We’re snackers! Plus, we’re apparently rather picky snackers.

That means when we’re working our heart healthy diet, I always make sure our snacks and treats are as good, if not better, than anything we’ve “given up.”

Enter our Banana Ice Cream addiction.

With just a few ingredients, we always know a fantastic snack (dare I say dessert?!?) is only a few moments away. PLUS, we NEVER throw out over-ripe bananas anymore.

It’s an amazing win/win.

Hint: When your bananas get softish, just peel ’em, toss ’em in a zip-loc bag, throw ’em in the freezer and you’ll always have the main ingredient for this amazing treat.

Double hint: This recipe can easily be made vegan by using one of those fabulous Reddi-wip vegan whipped creams!


Vanilla Milkshake: Pure decadence for a fraction of the calories PLUS a heart healthy dose of fruit and pure vanilla!

  • 1 cup sliced banana, frozen
  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp mini chocolate chips


  1. Blend the first four ingredients until fairly smooth. Pour into a pretty cup (or not). Top with low fat whipped cream, a sprinkle of chocolate chips, and a frozen cherry. Enjoy, guilt free!
