Prior research has shown that people who undergo surgery to lose weight, such as gastric bypass, have an increased risk for bone fractures. One study, for example, showed a 1.8-fold increased risk of fracture compared to the general population.

So having your stomach made smaller, so it has less time to digest the food that you eat, causes your bones to weaken, and fracture.  This is because your body needs time to take in the nutrients like calcium in the foods that you eat.

In the end, it’s best to eat good, unprocessed, healthy food.
