Chicago school bans homemade lunches, the latest in national food fight – Yahoo! News

So… apparently some schools are banning home-made lunches…

Students who attend Chicago’s Little Village Academy public school get nothing but nutritional tough love during their lunch period each day. The students can either eat the cafeteria food–or go hungry. Only students with allergies are allowed to bring a homemade lunch to school, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Only the students that CANNOT have school food are allowed anything but school food, or they can go hungry if they want.  I do believe in healthy eating, but I don’t think that forcing people to eat ‘healthy’ food is the right way to go.  I think that limiting the avilibilty of bad food in the school would be the best place to start, get rid of the Vending Machines, get more veggies and Fruits, and Juices. Schools should also lower the price of the healthier foods, it shouldn’t cost twice as much for a small salad, with a small piece of bread as a hamburger, like it did at my High School.
